Inclement

adj. 1. Rough, harsh; extreme, severe -- generally restricted to the elements or weather. Inclement is from Latin in-, "not" + clemens, "gentle, merciful." I am aware that you British Colombians have been exposed to some pretty inclement weather. Apparently the snow has come. So today, in honor of the snow that is in Canada, I de-frosted my freezer. I wish I took a photo. It was probably the one of the most satifying thing I`ve done in a long time. OUr freezer is tiny, so it was quite easy, there weren`t a lot of things in the fridge, and the ice just came off in huge sheets. I must have had at least a couple of kilos of ice in the sink when I was finished taking it all out. And now, the best part of all, is that it freezes ice at the setting 6 instead of having to turn it right up to 10. I marvel at the money we will save on our electricity bill. It is beautiful here. This is a plant growing out of the roof of the 200 + year old building across the street from us. It is thriving up here above everything in the sun. Its been rainy here a bit. Inclement rain, then beautiful clear days follow. One last image of the south of France and the weather here, inclement it is not. As much as I love it here, I am dying to wear my wool winter coat, I love it. Enjoy the snow, you BC residents, and make a snowman for me!!!

Sojourn

SOH-juhrn; so-JURN\, intransitive verb: 1. To stay as a temporary resident; to dwell for a time. Sojourn comes from Old French sojorner, from (assumed) Vulgar Latin subdiurnare, from Latin sub-, "under, a little over" + Late Latin diurnus, "lasting for a day," from Latin dies, "day." It has been quite some time since I have been out of Nimes. We have been trying to make it to the beach, with no luck. Due to misleading schedules and stat holidays our two attempts to get out of Nimes have been futile. Yesterday however we succeeded, and sojourned in Sete, a smallish Mediterranean town. We ate mussels, a whole bucket of them for 10 euros each, and walked around, took pictures, saw the sea, and then took the train back home. I felt sick all evening, too many mussels, that were too good at the time = deep regret later. Sete is a beautiful colourful town, the first time I went there was exactly one one year ago, when I went to Montpellier for a race. Nice to get out and see something new-ish again.

Ab ovo

adverb- from the beginning. from latin, literally "from the egg" An update ab ovo. It all started in the spring when Ben was accepted as an english assistant at the Academy of Montpellier. I decided that I must come along as well. So we set out the morning of the 18th September. Flew to Toronto, where our connecting flight had mechanical problems, and we ended up sleeping on the cold hard floor of the Toronto airport. It was so romantic. Thank you Air Canada. We arrived in Paris, after having bonded with all the other strangers on the plane, who had the same terrible fate as us. We stayed in Paris with a lovely family who are friends of my second host family from last year. We flew around to the major tourist sights, before lugging our 4 enormous suitcases into an upper deck on the TGV ( French trains) This was quite the accomplishment. Then we had to take those same 4 suitcases on the TRAM when we arrived in Montpellier. At rush hour. Piece of cake. We arrived at our destination with out much further ado. We stayed with a co worker, of the brother, of friends, of my first host family; strangers in another word, who were extremely kind to us while we got ourselves organized. This is their dog. At this point we found out that we were in fact not to stay in Montpellier, but that Ben had been posted in Nîmes... Opps. No problem, just a little change in towns.. So we commuted many times on the train to Nimes, untill we had a place to live. We managed to find time as well to go to Savoy and see my host families, for a weekend. On October the 2nd, we moved in. I found a job at Wall Street Intitute as a receptionist/ lab teacher, not long after. This is Nimes, from our window, early in the morning.

Peripatetic

adj- Walking about or traveling from place to place. Even thought I said I wouldn`t, here we are, another year, another blog. Double the fun. Here are some pics to get you caught up visually as to what we have been up to in our peripatetic lifestyles. There's the Eiffel tower, in the nations capital, where we spent our first two days with some friends, after our departure. Then a picture of our little studio here in Nimes, and one picture of the 74 steps we just love climbing up to our fifth floor nest. I will add more pics and texts, in the future, this is just the beginning.
